So I still have a huge £1200 to raise and am quickly running out of time before my trip!

On Sunday last week, my mum and I went out into the (surprisingly sunny) great outdoors and set up shop in Tansley at our local carboot sale and Sunday market. We managed to sell some of our old stuff and made £40 for Practical Action 😀

Tuesday was the first day of my finals, and I was pleasantly surprised at the exam, I must have been lucky because I felt well prepared and the questions I wanted came up (let’s just hope my result reflects this!) I am currently studying for my final exam on Wednesday 29th May, and I am counting down the days until it’s over and I’m free and get to spend a month in Asia!

Also, just two more days of the iPad Prize Draw…so get your entries in quickly!

I’m now over the half-way hurdle (but little under a month until the deadline!) There are a couple of events I have done, but still have a massive £1,200 until I hit my target…

The first of which was on Friday of last week, whereby I was bucket shaking on my local high street (Alfreton)…basically, I was one of those annoying people on the streets with a bucket making jingling sounds, but hey it’s all for a great cause! I would like to thank everyone that donated; I managed to raise about £46, so thank you!

I also set up shop in a shopping centre on the outskirts of Sheffield called Crystal Peaks. I was set up on a little stand armed with leaflets, posters and general goodies in the hope of getting some donations for Practical Action. It wasn’t a successful as I had hoped, but every little helps 🙂

And of course I still have my iPad raffle up and running which is due to close in just 9 days! So get your entries in quick to be in with winning a Brand New iPad Mini!

If I thought fundraising was difficult, I’ve got to actually climb this mountain now… any tips?

There’s something quite daunting about putting a video on YouTube, especially when you watch those that are so natural in front of the camera and I just look like, well, a doofus (possibly the best word in my vocabulary!)

Anyway, I deemed it necessary to film a video about myself and Kilimanjaro and to show people the there is actually a prize at stake!

After about 4 hours, a million takes and stumbling over many of my words I finally finished my, incredibly cringe, very first YouTube video, although it’s not quite what I had in mind (I assumed I would be a natural in front of the camera, but obviously not!)

Here is the link to my video – enjoy! Clearly I have no idea about lighting, sound (I mostly just hate the sound of my own voice!) and anything else video-y…so let me know what you think, and any tips you have (just in case I do decide to make a whole channel of videos!)

And also check out the iPad mini giveaway if you haven’t entered already:

Yes, you read that right!

The lovely people at Sharpe Systems (www.sharpe.it) have so generously donated an iPad to my cause to help me with my fundraising efforts. Massive thank you!

So, as part of my fundraising efforts, I am going to be giving away this BRAND NEW, BLACK, 16GB iPAD MINI to one lucky donator!

Ipad

As you know I’m climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in July, and have been hitting the fundraising hard to try and make as much money as I can for Practical Action, because it’s such a great cause. They are involved in so many projects across the world trying to help combat poverty through new developments and technologies.

On May 25th 2013, the draw will be closing and the winner will be announced shortly after (exciting times for those that have entered!)

Ipad Mini

I am asking for a minimum charity donation of just £2 onto my Just Giving page, so that you can be entered into the draw (such a bargain if you win!)

If you would like to find out more or enter the draw, please check out the Facebook group which will instruct you on how to do so.
